About the person

Dr Mirjam Tercero is a senior researcher and consultant at the Research Institute – Digital Human Rights Center. She studied law at the University of Vienna and at the Université Paris Descartes. From 2014 to 2018, she worked as a university assistant at the Institute for Civil Law and wrote her doctoral thesis on the civil liability of internet service providers for defamation and damage to reputation in online media. In her further career, she gained experience as an associate at a major international law firm, where she advised companies on IT law issues. From 2020 to 2023, she worked as a specialist advisor for digital agendas in a parliamentary club and from 2023 to 2024 in the cabinet of the Minister of Justice. In particular, she was actively involved in legislative projects relating to data protection law. Dr Tercero has been a ‘Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe’ (IAPP) since 2020. Dr Tercero is the author of several legal publications and an external lecturer at a university of applied sciences.
